and Scicli were rebuilt after 1693, when a terrible earthquakedestroyed a large part of Southeastern Sicily. Keeping within the late
Baroque style of that day, they also depict distinctive innovations in town
planning and urban building. In 2002 those towns all together were included in
the World Heritage List as Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto.
