Ragusa Ibla is a small Late Baroque district of the city of Ragusa in which walking is easy. The venue of the opening session (6 September) is located in the highest part of the district. It can be reached by car. If you are on foot, the differences in height are dealt with stairs.

The International Conference RAGUSA Safety, Health and Welfare in Agriculture and Agrosystems - RAGUSA SHWA - since 2008 will be held in  Ragusa Ibla - IT.

Ragusa - "the city of the upland" is a romantic town on the island of Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. The historical center (called Ragusa Ibla) is an ancient town knows for its magnificent Late Baroque architecture, quaint restaurants and picturesque streets. In 2002, the city was included among the UNESCO heritage sites of the Val di Noto.

Ragusa Ibla, like all of Sicily, has a Mediterranean climate. Because it is located in the hilly area south the Hyblean Mountains, temperatures are generally cooler than in the nearby coastal area of Marina di Ragusa.

Sea, Mountain and Urban Landscapes, the Culture of typical food, good wine drinking and, last but not least, Welcoming people, are all factors for a good stay in this part of the island of Sicily.

WHEN IN SOUTH EAST SICILY

Come in South east Sicily whenever you want. Every season, every month are good for a lovely trip here! The landscape, the culture of typical food, good wine drinking and, last but not least, welcoming people, are the factors for a good stay in this part of the island of Sicily.

Ragusa SHWA has in conviviality one of its strong points. Since the first edition in 2008, SHWA has favored local cuisine, with food and wine products from southeastern Sicily, its lands and sea. Ragusa SHWA chose from the beginning not to offer international cuisine, but typical cuisine, as is right to do with friends with whom to establish lasting relationships of mutual esteem and, subsequently, of work.

WHERE TO STAY
As in previous editions, SHWA will put you in touch with the best hotels in the late Baroque quarter of Ragusa Ibla.

A real "white stone Campus", with gorgeous XVIII century churches and buildings, limited car traffic.

The hotels and the conference venue are not far from each other and can be reached with a pleasant walk

RAGUSA IBLA UNESCO SITE
Ragusa Ibla and other seven towns in south-eastern Sicily: Caltagirone, Militello Val di Catania, Catania, Modica, Noto, Palazzolo and Scicli were rebuilt after 1693, when a terrible earthquake destroyed a large part of Southeastern Sicily.

Keeping within the late Baroque style of that day, they also depict distinctive innovations in town planning and urban building.

In 2002 those towns all together were included in the World Heritage List as Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto
